I remember when I was considering what new car to get, and I sought advice from my closest family and friends. My dad began telling me the story of Charlie the Tuna. Charlie was the mascot for Sunkist Tuna during the 60's and is largely responsible for the phrase "Sorry Charlie!"
Wikipedia says this about Charlie:
The advertisements depicted Charlie (voiced by actor Herschel Bernardi) as a hipster wearing a beret and glasses, whose goal is to be caught by the StarKist company. Charlie believes that he is so hip and cultured that he has "good taste," and is thus the perfect tuna for StarKist. Charlie is always rejected in the form of a note attached to a fish hook that said "Sorry, Charlie." The reason given by the narrator (voiced by Danny Dark) for the rejection was that StarKist wasn't looking for tuna with good taste, but rather for tuna that tasted good.
I thought it'd be appropriate to bring up Charlie because he (and Dad) remind me that being hip and cultured isn't all there is. In his goal to be caught, Charlie missed the bigger problem--that eventually, someone would be consuming him...marinate on that (no pun intended)
My hope is that none of us ever forget that all of this hip social media technology is a means to an even greater end, whether it be thought liberation, educating the masses, or otherwise. If your ends don't begin to justify the means, Charlie won't be the only one who's sorry!

have a nice day
